Grief is not one feeling on one timeline. It moves differently through every person who carries it, in its own shape, its own pace, its own return. There is no wrong way to grieve, and nothing below is meant as the one right way either.
What you'll find here are pieces written from inside my own losses, offered as a mirror, not a map. Grief is circular, not linear. It comes back around long after you thought you'd moved past it, and that return isn't failure, it's just grief being grief. Take whatever meets you, and leave the rest.
Is it normal for grief to live in the body, not just the mind?
Yes. Grief moves through the chest, the shoulders, the throat, the whole nervous system, long before the mind has made sense of a loss. Somatic work meets it there instead of asking you to think your way through it.
How long is grief supposed to take?
There's no timeline that fits every loss. Grief moves in its own season, sometimes for years, and coming back to it again doesn't mean you're doing it wrong.
What if I have to keep functioning while I'm grieving?
Most people do. Grief often has to wait for stolen moments between caring for everyone else. That slowness isn't failure, it's just what carrying both looks like.
Is this a substitute for grief counseling or therapy?
No. I'm a somatic and energy practitioner and coach, not a licensed therapist. This work supports healing and grief and is not a substitute for therapy or medical care. Many of the people I sit with do both, and that's a beautiful thing.
